MENUMENU
May of the islands that doe the coast around Ngwe Saung – a five-hour bus ride from Yangon – have adopted newfangled names in the years since Myanmar began promoting tourism in the mid-1990s. Just an hour by boat from lover’s Island, located on the southernmost tip of the tourist map, the islands formerly known as “North Island” and “South Island” have been transformed into the catchier Bird Islands, respectively. And, just as there are not any romancers populating Lover’s Island, Bird Island is replete with all sorts of aquatic life, none of which can fly.
Known for their distinctive shape and often strikingly colourful markings, Angelfish are one of the more numerous species of fish in the Great Barrier Reef, with over 80 different species in the family in total. Typical characteristics of the Angelfish include their beauty, inquisitive nature, and tendency to be found in all levels of the upper reef, from the surface to the base of the area’s coral formations. Patterns which can be found on Angelfish range from thin, vivid stripes to multi-coloured speckled patterns that make no two fish of the families look exactly alike, and they form a bulk of the subjects for underwater photography for enthusiasts on the Great Barrier Reef.
Bird island is one of the famous islands in Ngwe Saung. It takes one hour to get there by boat from the shore. It is a perfect place for snorkeling thanks to crystal clear water and large diverse marine lives. The middle of the Island is mostly occupied with birds. That is a reason why ancient Rakhine people called it is Bird Island.

The White Sand Island is also known as Thè Phyu Kyun (သဲဖြူကျွန်း) to the locals. This small island is facing Chaung Tha Beach, Ayeyarwaddy Region. There is a small pagoda on the island. The island is called “white sand” because of the white seashells and rocky white stones on the shores.
The Turtle Island can be able to see from Bird Island, which can see as small island from Bird Island. Due to the sea stone type island, may not approach and land on Island but can enjoy the nature around Island by boats.
